 | Comments: |
Old Mountain Road has been snowmobiled again, so it's generally well packed out. There is an increasingly large blue ice bulge that is difficult to avoid. Microspikes will be inadequate on it when the ice is firm, however snowshoes with distributed crampons are fine.
With the warmer weather yesterday, the fair-weather barebooters came out and pulverized the Crawford Ridgepole Trail. Postholing into the underlying packed footbed, as well as in the fresh powder. I barely made a dent in fixing the mess this morning with snowshoes. If you want to bareboot, go to Old Bridle Path on West Rattlesnake please.
Warmer morning with temperatures around 2F prior to sunrise. |
