Comments
Comments: Snowshoed a few minutes on Welch-Dickey trail to Brown Ash Swamp Bike Trail jct. Bike trail well packed by snowshoe traffic. Continued on trail approx .75 mile to start of bw. Route took us W up Cone's NE ridge through a boulder strewn moderate/steep slope, on thin snow cover, hitting top of ridge at its SW point. Could not find safe way up Cone Mt. from here. Continued in NW direction, skirting steeps/cliffs, until we found a nice moderate grade through steeps. Followed ridge through mixed woods to cairn and then to recognized high point.
Breaking effort - minimal - 0"-3" powder on supportive base. Thin snow cover on S facing slope
Grades - mostly easy, a few moderate inclines, a couple of short, steep pitches
Woods- wide open hardwoods, open mixed woods
