Comments
Comments: Finally got to break out the snowshoes! My partner unfortunately forgot his and didn’t realize until he went to take them out of the trunk… so he hiked with spikes, and can confirm it was loose and slippery all the way up and back. He said it was pretty exhausting. Even with my snowshoes, the trail is pretty chopped up and I was sliding off the path into the deeper snow on the sides. We saw three other people with shoes, everyone else was barebooting, so the trail could definitely use some packing down to be more of a pleasant experience.

Once you get past the first lookout, the snow got noticeably deeper, softer, and more difficult to get through. The final approach to the summit of South Peak was mashed potatoes, and took longer than we expected.

Overall a beautiful hike! Just needs a bit more packing to be the snowy sidewalk we’ve been spoiled with so far this year!
