 | Comments: |
From vehicle started bw, immediately crossing power lines. Scrapped initial plan to go SE to nose of ridge, in favor of following recent snowshoe tracks S - bad idea. Tracks led to young hardwoods with relatively thick young spruce/fir before petering out. Thrashed around in these conditions for a while before turning E to reach the ridge and wide open hardwoods. Eventually encountered mixed open woods leading to summit. Hardwood swath along ridge crest readily visible on Bing Aerials.
Breaking conditions - easy - 2-5" powder on a supportive base.
Grades - mostly easy, moderate stretch avoidable by staying more on ridge crest
Woods - wide open hardwoods, some mixed open |
