THE SNOWPACK IS VERY SOFT. PLEASE WEAR SNOWSHOES! If nice snowshoe tracks are preserved with the warmer weather this week, the trails will be beautiful when temperatures drop again.
About 2" of new snow from yesterday morning's storm. There was a slight crust (will prevent drifting until the next snowfall) on top of the new snow from the warmer temps after the snowfall. Someone started to bareboot up Old Mountain Road, but quickly turned around. One set of snowshoe tracks up to the ridge (turned north on Crawford Ridgepole). No tracks to the summit. I wore snowshoes roundtrip, but the footbed is still very soft.
Nice clear morning with temperatures in the upper 20s just before sunrise. |
