Comments
Comments: Snowshoes the entire way -- excellent, fast-moving conditions for these, from top to bottom.

Previous poster from a day ago mentioned using light traction near/toward summit on Osgood Trail; we brought light traction (always do, just in case), but had no issues using snowshoes the entire way. Plenty of snow a foot or two away from packed path on a few rocky sections — easy to walk on the snow, around these.

[Our original goal today was Mt. Hight, but on reaching the Nineteen-Mile Brook Trail trailhead, lot was completely filled and Route 16 near lot was lined with vehicles (20-25 at 9:30 am?). Must have been a meet-up group or something similar at the hut? Anyway, seeing only a few vehicles at Appalachia on the way over, we thought “what the heck, how about Mt. Madison?” Glad we did — perfect conditions today all the way. Met some nice folks, too!]
