We had an amazing blue sky day! With warming temperatures, we chose to wear snowshoes all day to keep the trail in good shape. Although the trail was in good condition and still fairly firm in the morning almost all the way to South Peak, there was fresh, soft snow on the spur trail and it appeared less traveled. Postholing was minimal but evident in a few areas where someone without snowshoes had stepped off the side of the trail into the deep snow. We only saw two other hikers all day, both barebooting but carrying snowshoes. |
