 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Tenney Mountain ski area (closed) parking lot was only partially plowed after the most recent storm, so space is limited. Southern access road loop is VERY icy (slid down part of it sideways tonight). |

 | Comments: |
There has been some snowcat and side-by-side activity up the access route crisscrossing the double chairlift, but no grooming as of yet this winter (last winter there was occasional grooming despite being closed). Tracks continued up the utility line to the communications tower. No foot traffic beyond there since the snow storms, so I broke out a new line to the highpoint and to the cairned viewpoint. Noted some snowshoe tracks ascending to the cairned viewpoint from the south.
Temperatures touched 50F in the valley this afternoon, but seemed to top out in the low to mid 40s on the mountain and were in the mid 30s before 6 PM. As a result, not much melting. Lower mountain snow may go to granular tomorrow, but the upper mountain snowpack wasn't really touched. Snow is very soft underfoot, but would probably be thick/unpleasant on skis at the moment.
Snowshoes very much needed, even on the snowcat tracks, as there hasn't been a major consolidation event yet (tomorrow and tomorrow night may change that), so the snowpack is VERY soft. If everyone snowshoes tomorrow in the warm weather, things could set up nicely for everyone Sunday onward. |
