The trail up to South Moat from the south is well packed-out with a firm surface and we used microspikes up and back. By afternoon the warming temps had made it a bit softer, but still no problem. Tomorrow's warm temps will probably lead to a lot of post-holing, however. The summit had experienced some drifting so there were spots where the trail wasn't as packed down, and it disappeared entirely on the other side over to Middle Moat. I don't know whether it was just the summit area that had drifted over, or whether the entire ridge trail was untracked. |
