I approached from the Rumney side. The snowmobile trail that wends its way around Carr (including parts of the Three Ponds Trail and Carr Mountain Trail) made for an easy path for about the first half of the hike. I broke trail at the beginning of Carr Mountain Trail until after the water crossing. Then it was a back on the snowmobile trail. At about 2300' feet, Carr Mountain Trail and the snowmobile trail part ways. I broke trail until the summit. The trail leading to Warren looked unbroken. At times I felt like I was postholing *with* my snowshoes. |
