I saw a few happy puppers decked out in trail gear. I also knew dogs had been there because of the piles of unscooped poop in the snow. Did not see any above the Cascade paths on Avalon. Do not recommend butt-sliding below that for this reason. |

Entire trail doable in snowshoes. Entire trail doable in microspikes/bareboots with minimal slippage. You'll only post-hole if you step off the trail. Plenty of opportunities for excellent sliding on the return trip (just not below the cascades). The Saco Lake trail, however, is a bit chunky and post-holed, as to be expected on a short, no-climbing trail. My snowshoes and I evened it out just a bit. |
