Very nice hike with great views from the ledges and the summit. The short side trip to the lime kilns is worth the detour, interesting to learn about how the kilns worked. The trail is shallow frozen footprints and divots, not too hard on the ankles. A few deep postholes on thebsides of the trail but easily avoided if paying attention. We used microspikes going up, I switched to Hillsound Pro trail crampons for the descent as there were short steep sections that had boilerplate ice. My hiking buddies slid a bit in these areas with the microspikes. Under 3 hrs RT, incl visit to kilns, stops at the viewpoints etc. |
