The weekend folks trashed the trail in the warmer weather, so now we're stuck with a postholed and divoted mess that is too firm to be fixable.
Old Mountain Road was snowmobiled again, so the barebooter carnage isn't too bad. Nevertheless, some still managed to posthole through the snowmobile tracks. At present, the blue ice bulges are mostly covered.
Crawford Ridgepole Trail was an uneven mess. Postholes and divots. Pretty much a bunch of people peed on the toilet seat and then it froze.
At this point with the temperatures this cold (5F at sunrise), Microspikes or snowshoes will suffice. I opted for the latter, since the wider surface area reduced the ankle rolling.
Hopefully this gets snowshoed when temperatures rise again so that the trail can be nice again for all. |
