Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There is room for 2-3 cars at the trailhead at the detour to Barnes Field. There is room for a few more at the the entrance to the Dolly Copp Campground.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Surprisingly there was more water on the trail than expected. The rain storm this week definitely impacted the crossing on some usually mellow streams. Definitely manageable but need to use some caution.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were a few blowdowns which I cleared on the way down with a saw. There is still one too big that will have to wait for spring that will need some axe work that you can crawl under. My brother and I adopted this trail a few years ago and we are used to clearing.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be good to go for pups!
Bugs
Bugs: No mosquitoes baby!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments: Daniel Webster Scout Trail and detour from Barnes Field Campsites

The trail was very crunchy. I made it up about 3.5 miles including the detour. Started to snow heavy and felt it was best to turn back and do trail maintenance in the lower elevations. Based on the weather forecast I knew it would be a long shot to summit today. But any day in the woods is a good day! Overall the trail is in great shape. Perfect for snowshoeing. Happy trails!
