Nice hike. Piper Trail up was nicely packed and micro spikes were all that was needed. The rock surfaces on top had pretty thick ice with light snow coverage and required care. Sharp microspikes. We were glad we were going up not down. The Liberty, Hammond, Weetamoo trails were less well packed and fairly full of of footsteps - not super deep postholes, but pretty uneven. We used micro spikes at top and bottom, snowshoes in the middle. More snowshoe love in this section is needed. |
