We spotted a car at the tramway and started in from Lafayette place up the lonesome lake to hi-cannon, then cut over to the lake and up to the KRT and over cannon. Some very steep ice on the KRT between lonesome lake trail and hi-cannon that slowed up some larger groups, but looks like everyone made it up ok with some patience. we did it in micro spikes without any real problem, but for those couple of pitches a bit more aggressive traction would be more optimal. Otherwise trail was serious hard pack which made micro's the way to go IMO. Pretty cold but not as windy as expected on Cannon, with nice views to Franconia and beyond so overall a fantastic day. Met a gridder on the way down the KRT to the tramway lot, sounded like she was pretty close to finishing. Best of luck on that! |
