Comments
Comments: Trails in great shape. Packed and frozen solid with a about an inch or two of fluffy powder. One steep slick stretch for about 50 feet on Cotton Mountain trail near the summit, and a few other slick spots heading down from Cotton toward Livermore and also going up to Livermore on CRT but otherwise great. Spikes were the right choice all the way to Livermore summit. CRT north from Livermore summit to Old Mountain Road junction had some deeper powder and drifting (6-8") so on our way back up to Livermore we switched to snowshoes to pack it out a little (for you Rocket21). Had a nice cup of steaming hot cinnamon tea while enjoying the fabulous views over Squam Lake from Livermore summit. We skipped the icy switchbacks coming down from Livermore summit to Prescott junction and cut through the open woods instead where heels could be dug into the supportive crust. Beautiful day for a low effort, high reward loop.
