 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The parking lot was plowed but very small, if you park on the fire road that goes into the lot be sure to park off to the side as there were lots of snowmobilers coming through via that path. |

I only used microspikes, which was appropriate, but I did regret leaving the snowshoes in the car once I got past the part in the trail where you cross over the fire road. Conditions were a good 2-3 inches of powder on top of some ice. The first mile or so was excellent but once the elevation gain picked up there were some tricky spots where it looked like people had post holed during the thaw and then froze over this weekend. Because of this, I took the fire road down until the road/trail junction to avoid this part at the top. Not challenging or at all impassable, just a little bit annoying and not worth doing when there is a perfectly good fire road a stones throw away from it. Great little hike, took me under an hour and a half (solo and at a pretty quick pace), and would be great for a family with the appropriate gear! |
