In the morning, the lot was covered in snow. By late afternoon, the sun had melted a significant amount. Fair odds that's going to get even better in the next few days... just in time for the next snowstorm. :D |

Down low, a couple drainages suffered a little from the recent thawing, but nothing major. Still a single hop gets you across. |

The trail is fine. A couple very easily managed blow-downs, but absolutely nothing major as of this writing. |

A couple husky-mix pups having the best day ever. Scritches were returned with copious doggy kisses. They were so happy it just made my day. |

I forgot how much this is a fall line hike, and a quite strenuous and unrelenting one at that, especially for its relatively short length. That said, it was a good day to be in the mountains. The trail is very solid, almost to the point of concrete. There are a few essentially unavoidable areas where a glissade is required on the descent. It feels like certain sections are more hard ice than snow. In the col, things are still quite nice; perhaps owing to the thaw, there hasn't been much drifting at all, though the snow is a bit softer and slightly fluffier. Overall, the trail is very smooth, offering quick travel. Enjoy it while it lasts!
