Comments
Comments: Warmer day than I expected today with next to no winds. I had hoped to do a complete traverse over to Lafayette but being solo and not knowing how the section between Liberty and Haystack looked, I played it safe and ended my hike with descending liberty springs to the basin parking lot. Lincoln woods was hard packed and I used my hillsounds until about the first set of switchbacks on Osseo, I then switched to snowshoes which seemed better at having less sticky snow balling up on them than my hillsounds. I like the heel lifts too especially on those steep sections where the “ ladders” are. Today only a small bit of a ladder was visible. Hard packed snow all over them today. Further up, there were some deeper drifts within about 0.5 mile of the summit of Flume. I was glad to have been wearing snowshoes here too. The rest of the route from Flume to liberty and down Liberty springs would’ve been fine with spikes but I had the shoes on already and love the traction, so I went the rest of the day with them on. Definitely felt more like April than February today. Great day for 2 more for my grid .
