Comments
Comments: We were worried that with all the melting elsewhere, Avalanche Brook might be tough (recent photo on AllTrails showed open gully); but it was solid. The trail was unbroken on the far side, and a bit difficult to find in the steepest section immediately across the brook. From there until the junction with the Frankenstein Cliff Trail, it was 8" of fairly new snow on a solid base. Hard work even with snowshoes, but now it's a well-tracked highway. From F'stein Cliff trail junction down to Arethusa, a frozen combo of snowshoe & post-hole, but not bad going.
