Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I couldn't figure out how to get to the trail from the Waterville Town Square so I drove to the other end and parked on the side of W Branch Rd (there was enough room on shoulder). After the fact, I see how you can use what's labeled "Dog Path" on google maps to get over to where the trail starts near Mountain Brook Way. There are good signs on either end.

Comments
Comments: Wasn't ready to stop hiking/go home and needed this trail for the Waterville 125 (the trail isn't in The Guide). The description of the trail wasn't super clear on how to find the start. The dam it is referring to is by Cochran Pond. You could take what's labeled "Dog Path" on google maps (Village XC Ski Trail in the description) over to the start of the trail. I chose to come at it from the other end on W Branch Rd where I was able to easily park on the shoulder of the road. Trail was very packed, so no need for snowshoes today. It's a nice easy walk along the river - beautiful green icy water right now. Definitely needed spikes though! There are two sections of steep stairs which are super super icy right now. Unfortunately one of my katoohla microspikes snapped after 5 years of service.. bad timing!
