One single set of snowshoe tracks following last night's 2" snow storm (plus a few more inches from a few days earlier).
To mix things up a bit, I took the old logging road (prior to the top mud pit) off Old Mountain Road, which connects to a short herd path that leads to the Crawford Ridgepole Trail a little north of the four-way junction. Snowshoes were the way to go. One set of bareboot tracks from the 113 side of Old Mountain Road, but they did not continue to the summit (thankfully).
Crawford Ridgepole had some drifting between the junction and the summit, as is often the case. Snowshoes were the way to go.
Snow was a little sticky with temperatures hitting the mid 30s this afternoon, but not too bad. Nice March weather with blue skies and ample sunlight. |
