Not too much melting from this morning's rain, however the warm air and sunshine this afternoon was making a big difference. Since the most recent storms have been powder, it's wet, soft, and sticky and consolidating. I wore snowshoes roundtrip for flotation to prevent postholing, as well as to minimize snowballing. Can't picture doing this without snowshoes right now.
Full snowpack remains and it's probably around 2 feet deep in the woods. I ascended via the hiking trail and descended via the snowmobile trail, which has a few barespots from heavy use and no recent groom.
Beautiful springlike afternoon with blue skies and warming temperatures. |
