 | Comments: |
Micro spikes all day. A light dusting of snow on the trail below tree line with patches of blue ice underneath. Above tree line, packed snow, exposed rock and large patches of ice filling in between the rocks. The upper portion of Jewell at the talus field had little to no snow. The trail was obscure at times in this area. The Gulfside was slow going in sections with significant amounts of ice. Opted to do a lot of rock hopping to get around the ice. Some soft snow drifts 3-6 inches deep, while other areas were hard packed ridges. Nothing super difficult, just had to be mindful of the ice. Winds were predicted to be 10mph in the afternoon. We had a steady wind out of the west for the duration of time that we were above tree line. Be prepared for exposure during this extended period of time. |
