| Comments: |
The colder temperatures the last few days have frozen the trail solid at elevation. A little bit of slush and loose snow as well as exposed roots and bare earth showing on the Hancock Notch Trail. Cedar Brook Trail and upward was solid. Lots of ice on the ascent of South Hancock and descent of North Hancock. No traction needed up to the base of the peaks but switched to crampons for the ascent and descent. Micro spikes are likely not enough for that ice but crampons were perfect. Lots of frozen post holes between the two peaks |
