Parked in the lot for the Farrell Field House of Proctor Academy. This is off of Field House Lane off of US 4 in Andover.
Was told by another hiker it was okay to park there. |

Thanks to all the members of the Meet up group Hiking with Dogs who joined us. All the pups were well behaved.
We ascended the Ragged Mountain Trail to what was felt to be a summit cairn. The trail at this point was somewhat difficult to follow. Found the Balanced Rock Trail and it was poorly marked but the group was able to make it’s way to The Bulkhead with excellent views.There we’re a few old yellow blazes. From there headed down and I missed the turn off for Mud Pond and therefore headed down some wood roads and followed markers for the campus of Proctor Academy back to our vehicles.
There was about one inch of snow which fell the previous night.
The higher portions of the trail had some older ice underneath the new snow and some members wore light traction although not necessary.
