Trail down low is wet and melted. Monorail is in decent shape from about 2500 ft up. We tried to go up the Champney Brook Falls spur but around the falls it was severely dicey and we turned around and went back to main trail. Impassable unless you are 1) perfectly lucky to get over the blue ice, which is at a 45 degree angle. Falling on this will send you 20 ft down an embankment into the falls. Ice axe and/or full crampons necessary to clear the falls area. Dangerous without them. Do not try in spikes. Regular trail outside spur is fine for spikes only. |
