Comments
Comments: Dusting of fresh snow in the morning, otherwise trail at the lower elevation mostly free of ice. Hard packed snow at the higher elevation with sections of ice flows. Sharp Hillsounds were adequate for us but there were a few people wearing crampons. Sporadic snow drifts on the .9 traverse on carriage road.
Trails conditions today paled to the strong cold winds, 35mph +. I credit my trekking poles for keeping me from being swept off my feet, and my googles for keeping me on the trail. A quick stop at the summit and a quick exit back to treeline.
