Trail crampons door-to-door today. Frozen granular for the most part on Valley Way, except for a big ice dome around 3000', but the ice was pretty soft so it wasn't hard to climb up along the side. Some snowballing on the way up. You can bare-boot from the Hut to Madison if you like although Adams is a different story, especially near the top where you want sharp spikes. Wind was pushy on Madison, but less so on Adams. The descent was slushy, but thankfully fast. Shoutouts to Paul Doyle, Nate, and Sandy. Nice to see you up there today in the great weather |
