Comments
Comments: Super day for Owl's Head. Bare boots nation until the middle of the 3rd crossing when i realized the rocks had a light slippery glaze of ice. Micros remained on for the remainder of hike until returning to BPBW.LWT was a mix of semi solid granular ice, bare ground with a few muddy spots.BP had spots of light monorail, loose snow over a nice track and bare ground. I took the low route for the Bushwhack and was mostly snow free with a few sections of thin monorail. The upper route looks like its seen usw as well. LBT has a mostly solid base that was overall very supportive. Once on Brutus i chose my own path apparently and whacked to a much higher line to the North East of the split rock. there is still a fairly good snowpack around the summit. The summit stick has been removed... these sticks are harmless fun. so sad to see them disappear. After summiting i descended vis Brutus which was a mix of bare ground, somewhat tacky blue ice and packed snow. Hillsound trail crampons wouldve worked nicely but micros kept me upright.Several blowdowns on the lower portion of Brutus. It was great crossing paths and chatting with Eric,Captain Chris, and Athena today enjoying this fine day. i met 4 others on the way out on Lincoln Woods Trail.
