Trail was in pretty great shape for March. Temps were warm, I hiked down once in treeline just in leggings.
Snow started around 2500 but didn’t need spikes until around 3,000ft from memory. Some really thick ice, trees definitely helped staying on both feet. Monorail is definitely diminishing, but currently still stable enough. The weather the rest of the week could really change up the trails. Looking like some snowfall, I’d definitely bring both rock (dull) spikes and a regular set if you have them.
Such a great trail, really enjoyed it. Much better than having to do Jewell out and back! Incredible views of castle ravine, the pemi, and presidentials! |
