Water levels were generally low and easily passed. Most drainages are now open, with only maybe one still ice/snow bridged on the upper section of the notch. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One larger blowdown around the height of land in the notch (BNT), then another large one across Mt Cabot Tr on the ascend before the View. Both of these have precipitated herd paths around them. |

Hike out/back to the Cabot summit on Bunnell Notch Tr and Mt Cabot Tr. I barebooted (carefully over soft ice) and then put on microspikes after the height of land on Bunnell Notch Tr, and kept on them until most of the way back through the notch. The weather stayed relatively dry until the summit (late morning), then a mix of snow/sleet/rain as I descended back the way I came. Trail has alternating snow/ice/mud in the lower flatter sections, then increasingly consistent snow/ice through the Notch. Seemed slushy in spots, no surprise given the runoff and general moistness of the notch. Once on Mt Cabot Tr and the ascent it's continuously hard snowpack and no problem. Micros were sufficient. Not alot in the view department today but I had the whole joint to myself.
