Trail Maintenance Notes: Both trails are generously blazed. A few blowdowns on Cross Minks and many on Northside. As I understand it, Northside is not officially maintained but does get some attention, and I saw evidence of past work.

Comments
Comments: Stewarts Peak the long way from Bean Rd., for a round-trip of about 6 mi.

I recall this area being pretty wet from previous visits, but things were much drier than expected, even after the recent rains. This was good. Northside Trail is not signed at either end but once you are on it, it's impossible to miss with the abundant blazing. The high point of Middle Mink is just off-trail, marked by a small cairn. Lots of ups and downs along this route, many of which don't register on the USGS topo map, so this is a bit of a workout.

Didn't see a single person all day, but on the return trip I passed by some howling animals (mixed in with a barred owl) that I could hear but not see. Sounded like they were telling me to keep away and I took the hint.
