Took Valley Way on the way up, microspikes are a must around mile 2. However, we found it easier to remove our microspikes for the final rock scramble up Adam’s since there was not enough snow coverage to keep us from destroying the spikes. Took Airline down, and didn’t need to use the our microspikes again until we got around a mile below the tree line. Airline was very icy, and crampons would have been optimal, but did it in microspikes. Would not recommend taking airline for the descent unless you have crampons, experience and lots of confidence needed otherwise. Overall beautiful hike weather conditions aside. Lots of variation in scenery and temperature, so come prepared. |
