Comments
Comments: The calendar says it is Spring but it is still full on winter at elevation here in NH. Bring traction and winter layers!

First 2.3 miles were bare ground in various forms. Then, started white icy decaying monorail. 2.4 miles became consistent unavoidable snow over ice all the way to middle peak. Sharp Hillsounds went on at 2.4 miles and stayed on until the same point on the return. The first part of the steep 6/10ths section before the Scaur junction has several sketchy areas that were traces of snow over hard ice before 10 a.m. then slippery snow over white ice and hour and a half later and quite sketchy!

Thawing temps Monday and Tuesday will cause a bunch of melting that will most likely freeze into hard icy luges Wed/Thu/Fri on the steep sections. If going to do this trail later in the week, full crampons would not be overkill for the steeps.
