Comments
Comments: Put on spikes at the wilderness boundary, kept them on till 2800' on the descent. Where the trail isn't monorail its a stream just like the stupid thing always is. Engine hill whack was rough as the only people there before me were a few fellow gridders including one who finished her grid on Isolation today! Degrading into a wet marsh in many places and challenging to follow across open, bare clearings. Ends pretty low near where the low line comes out on iso east trail. Iso express is a rough whack with lots of posholing down low where it goes thru the marshy bogs. Pretty solid for a short bit below the rock outcrop at 3400' than very rough and soft with some vicious sidehill until starting the climb up the drainage. Current track goes straight up/down the drainage roughly instead of its meanderings around the ridge on the south side of the drainage. The last 100 yards up to the summit were challenging. Near the bottom of iso east on the return it got even softer and I postholed hip deep in place. Elected to take the cutoff on the return and that was pretty solid and stable/very narrow monorail until I lost it in a large blowdown pile and became a short painful thrashing whack thru the woods back to the trail. The section from here to the start of the engine hill whack is half stream, half stable monorail. Maybe Glen Boulder oab woulda been worth the extra 1k of vert
