Comments
Comments: Nice dry trail to about 2500’ on Osseo then minimal snow cover becoming monorail with a sticky wet cement top layer that prevented sliding off. Barebooted to 3300’ and fought my way up the ladders section. Very choppy ugly broken trail from here to Flume summit. Similar to Liberty Springs trail but with some drifts in places. Snowshoes mandatory to avoid knee plus deep postholing from Liberty Springs trail to Little Haystack summit. The climb up the steep section to the outlook was brutally steep and tedious work. Barebooted from Falling waters jct to Lincoln summit then spikes down to 2500’ on old bridal. Boney on little haystack becoming more snow towards Lincoln summit, mostly snow cover with occasional rock to Lafayette. Greenleaf down to 4000’ on old bridal is a beautiful winter sidewalk. Slushier below with a mix of soft snow then mostly slush and some rock from the ledges at 3400’ down to shedding the spikes at 2500’. There is a nasty combo of watery slush and mud for a good while and then that annoying stream section is a stream
