Comments
Comments: Avalon was particularly icy from the junction with A-Z until the Avalon Spur. Recommend crampons or very sharp spikes if going that way. Consistent soft snow over packed snow for most of the rest of the trails. Except,,, some icy spots on the steeps between Field and Willey and on the Tom Spur. We only post holed if we veered off center of the solid part of the trail. Those post holes were thigh high though. Snowshoes not helpful today but if temps remain above freezing they may be needed over the next several days as the snowpack deteriorates.
