No consistent snow going up 19 MB until about 4000’. Only one section that I felt really needed spikes. Still decent amount of snow in spots on the ridge along Carter Moriah. Probably could manage without any traction but it was nice to have for sure. Somewhat of a monorail but very narrow and postholed a handful of times. Carter Dome from Zeta pass up to the peak is very ice and I would not recommend trying without traction. Micro spikes were fine for me! Postholed the most probably the last 300’ before the summit of Carter Dome. Still some spots with a foot or more of snow…took a little while to navigate! Overall a beautiful day on the hills. |
