Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: none
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail is good condition. Recent clipping of evergreen boughs and a tree cut just south of the summit. One tree across the trail north of Hedgehog Mountain (about 4" diameter softwood). Probably fell after trail maintainer performed work. One other hiker noted the signs did not specifically name Hedgehog Mountain but rather just read "summit" so a hiker unfamiliar with the trail may wonder if the path lead to Hedgehog Mountain. Some eroded section of trail that has been the case for quite some time (causes no problem for hikers).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs. Many out today. Not much water.
Bugs
Bugs: Not too bad. No nearby brooks on this route may be the factor limiting the population of black flies.

Comments
Comments: Ledges were dry in the AM today. Some of these ledges may be tricky if wet. Nice views from the summit, Allen's Ledge, and South Ledges. Painted Trillium, shadbush, and hobblebush flowers are in bloom.
Many hikers enjoying the day. Hopefully none got caught in thunderstorms. The cumulus clouds were billowing and filling in the sky when I completed the hike. Heard a half dozen rumbles of thunder to the northeast and drove into torrential rain in Albany on the Kancamagus Highway.
