We headed out on a beautiful day with not too many cars in the lot which was nice. We tried to hold off on spikes as long as we could and we waited til about 2 switchbacks below the shinning rock. Once we hit treeline we took off traction and did not put them on until we got back into the trees on our way down greenleaf trail. The hut was open which was a nice surprise. We only saw a handful of people on such a nice day out. On the way down after the hut it was on and off for spikes for a little until finally we could take them off for good and cruise on down. Longer day with the snow conditions but what do you expect, it is still May! |
