Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Left a bike at the train station which had ample parking. Willey House parking (gift shop was open) had room for many cars.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow/Ice - Postholes, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Last two for me (first two if ascending Avalon) were doable with some log balancing or taking really big steps. All others were easy step overs or rock hops
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: On Kendron Flume there is a step over/duck under combo before the Flume. Above close to the Ethan Pond intersection is one duck under or straddle over. Ridge was in good shape but could use a good brushing back between Willey and Field. A-Z and Avalon had many large blowdowns. Some had herd paths. They are large and will take major effort to clear.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: none but plenty of water if you bring one
Bugs
Bugs: NONE, wind was fairly strong all day and temps were cool. Another day of dodging the little devil's!

Comments
Comments: Willey Range Tr. from Ethan Pond Tr. up over the ladders was more dry than I expected (still plenty of water on trail). No ice or snow all the way up. The erosion on this side is substantial. A few rungs missing. Between Willey and Field there was monorail. I negotiated it easily without spikes but your comfort level may vary (two going the other way we're using them). The monorail was like a dragons back and very narrow. I could probably take Simone Biles on the balance beam! From Field to A-Z (Tom) the monorail was more significant and I put on spikes. The monorail was similar to earlier but there was more of it. About 1/2 way over it was gone and replaced with water on the trail. From that point for the rest of the day (up to Tom and down to the train station) the trails were snow free.
