| Water Crossing Notes: |
I wonder if Weetamoo ever visited Gordon Pond, because the upper crossing is a truly right up her alley for having 'six husbands' - dont fall or your going down a 30' flume. What a way to go, though. The lower crossing of Gordon Pond Brook is also a delight, though only slightly more safe. Props to the absolute sadist that made this into a trail. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few blowdowns right around the intersection of KRT (Read this in a Forrest Gump voice...) It rained so hahddd, it was rainin' uhhhhppp. It was decided no maitenance would be done due to the lovely yellow and red cell above our heads. All are saw worthy. |

What a FINE day in the forest. A fine day to be a duck. I partnered with a redliner for some of their final miles. It was hard to say no when the trailhead is less than five minutes from the house. I have been called insane for being an aspiring gridiot. I really want to know what people call redliners, because to me, they are the truly insane people. I'd rather do Osceola via Greeley than some of these. I call that fun, you folks call walking through ankle deep water and skipping and singing through boot sucker mud fun (in a driving rainstorm - no less. We are already wet!). I guess it was a prefect match. AT ANY RATE. All trails listed are completely devoid of snow. Great conditions throughout. Plenty of blowdowns left for the AT hikers to get snarled up on. Gordon Pond, from the Pond to the upper river crossing, was more or less hiking through an active river. DELIGHTFUL. It got better as we got lower, but the lower crossings still where swollen and we got wet feet despite my best gazelle leaping. Sad trombone. Squishy shoes. An interesting maze down low to follow Gordon Pond Trail. Again, my brain is a gridder, not a redliner - so why the heck would we go from the power lines, amble for like 2 miles on a logging road, then pop back out on the power lines to follow it out, more or less. SADISTS! A lovely walk of shame back to the car. |
