Trails: Slippery Brook Trail, Eastman Mountain Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, May 20, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I did this hike from the Jackson side. Slippery Brook Rd had the gate closed just passed the entrance to Mountain Pond. Added another .7 mile road walk to get to the usual parking at the next gate for the Slippery Brook Trail. I parked just before the gate, room for maybe another vehicle. Additional parking in Mountain Pond Lot. I don't know why they had the gate locked. Road was in good shape with just a few branches. It probably will be opened soon.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing but many rivulets.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of step-overs on the woods trail. One large crawl under, or if you have long legs a tough straddle.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several dogs out today.
Bugs
Bugs: I made it all the way to the summit and back with only two bugs, which I sent to the Promised Land. A few buzzin' on Slippery Brook Rd when I was finishing.

Comments
Comments: Easiest way to get to Eastman, albeit a longer hike, but no steeps until the summit cone. Nice mellow trail, if you don't mind some mileage on logging roads and a lot of step-overs. Other than that the trail is well padded and easy on the feet. Socked in at the summit, but no wind or bugs, nice and calm.
