Comments
Comments: There are 3 types of hikers: 1. Those with maps and who know how to use them (like me), 2. Those with maps who sort of know how to use them and just need a quick adjustment (I have total confidence in these guys) 3. Those who forgot their map and want to know why phone GPS isn't so great (yep, stick to the white blazes and you'll be fine). OH! And 4! Those with no map, who don't know what peak they came off of (Cannon), nor do they confidently know which campsite they are headed to (Kinsman Pond)...and spikes...sounds like they are still needed north of Hi-Cannon.

Oh a day to get the bottom of Hi-Cannon, a hanging chad on Cascade Brook, and the 2.4-ish of KRT from the top of Fishin Jimmy to Lonesome Lake...Took the long way in because of said chad. The bottom of Hi-Cannon is badly eroded in spots and if you're not paying attention, it's easy to wander off on a side/herd path.
Stopped at the Hut and was greeted by a cacophony of children out for a trip (in addition to the ones outside, several were cleaning up in the kitchen and making a terrible racket, bless their hearts), while one counselor tried to keep them organized and either the other counselor or the caretaker sat there with a guitar and played the same dang chords like she was in a trance. Bizarre, really, and immediate grounds for a headache that lingered most of the day.
Cascade Brook is wet in the usual places, and dry elsewhere. Kinsman Pond Trail is exceptionally wet and wildly unmaintained in spots (if you are a smooth sailing type, it's great in winter) until reaching the pond where it is in fine shape. KRT to the Cannonballs contained all the usual trappings of late Spring, but I enjoyed it very much. Down Lonesome Lake Trail, walked Around Lonesome Lake and made my way back to the car park. Mud, water, and dry trail, throughout. Cheers.
