| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked opposite a brown log home in a clearing (old log landing) at about 1925ft east of the lake on Round Pond Rd. Road is easily doable for mid-clearance 2WD. There’s some rocks I’d be wary of in low clearance beyond the fork in the road. |

Day 206, Peak 200. 2nd hike and 3rd peak of the day after West Prospect and Perry Ponds Peak. Great, sunny day to be out without the extreme heat and it was great to be back up in the north country :D
From my car in the clearing/log landing I followed a NE bearing all the way to the summit. I began by following an overgrown road from the clearing which eventually had dirt and better walking on the right hand side of it. Was contouring a bit too much and going to head too far north though so when I saw an overgrown skidder road diverging right I took advantage of it and followed it. Very overgrown but followable. Nothing too prickly along the way though not exactly pleasant either. At about 2100ft the road stayed on the edge of a larger clearing. Here, I could head into the woods and walk the line to the peak. Moderate grades. Open woods. Easy to find jar. Descended the same way.
Very easy one to bad. Just under 1.5mi and 500ft of gain, taking me 1hr including a decently long break at the summit to sign in. 159 more days and 165 more peaks to go… |
