I'm really happy The Teal Goat had a similar experience (right down the trail!)...I don't like to complain about bugs because, oh I don't know, it's the woods! But this was one of the toughest days in the last few years. I was bleeding through my bandana from the bites, even with a lather of my trusty picaridin. |

You get more out of this trip than most typical 10mi out-and-backs. I'd break the trail into five sections: 1) Lower logging roads 2) Relocated section 3) Cascade switchbacks 4) Bogs and two ponds 5) Enough of that, let's go straight up. Also, the fog and low clouds broke just in time for the view from the western edge of Norcross over the Pemi to the Bonds and Twins...really cool view because it's framed by the slopes of Nancy on one side and Anderson on the other. |
