Large tree crossing Chandler-scooted under, a few others here and there nothing too big |

Our two had a terrific day! One needed a couple boosts up on the steep rocks at the top of Chandler, but otherwise stream crossings etc doable. |

Not really too bad -so surprised. The worst was Old Jackson black flies and mosquitos for a bit at the end of the day |

My husband and I, plus the two pups had a great day. Temps and weather couldn’t have been better. Saw two hikers the whole day - one on Madison Gulf and the other at the intersection of Madison Gulf and Great Gulf trails. Madison Gulf was a delight all decked out in the Great Gulf Wilderness spring attire -trillium abounded. Great Gulf was fabulous -water levels looked still a bit on the high side. -but sparkled in the warm midday sun. Chandler Brook was such a classic White Mountains hike - waterfalls, steep grades and a nice rock scramble to top it off -not to mention the VIEWS! We ascended Chandler which was a good decision for us. We have gone down steeper - but going up felt right for us and the pups. The auto rd made a nice loop for us…not the best part after being in the wilderness -but better than we thought it might be. |
