Swarms of small flies. Choke worthy amount because you couldn't avoid the bastids. Breathe in and end up swallowing them...YUCK. Some black flies noted. Tons of mosquitos as the day went on. |

Found a ball cap on the trail and the last switchback. |

| Comments: |
Trail is a mix of dry, wet, mud, running water, and then dry again. Swarms of small flies...they are out in force! Bring bug net and bug spray. You will need both on parts of the trail. It was relatively quiet but I'm not sure how busy this trail is on the weekend. Views at the top were spectacular. Definitely on the easier side for those looking to get a 4K footer and not feel like they are dying the whole time. Just be aware of the mud and/or running water in places. It's avoidable or you can step in it with minimal problems but not everywhere. Use your poles if you have to check the depth of the mud. Water crossings were managable but the water level seems lower than a few weeks ago. |
